American Native Plants (ANP) is a wholesale native plant nursery specializing in regionally appropriate trees and shrubs for restoration, reforestation, and sustainability‑driven planting projects. With growing operations in Maryland and Illinois, we support conservation organizations, utilities, municipalities, and contractors with reliable quantities of native tree stock, an emphasis on ecological function and survivability, and experience meeting the needs of grant‑funded and compliance‑based projects. Our team prioritizes species suitability, logistics coordination, and clear communication, making ANP a dependable regional supply partner for projects focused on long‑term environmental impact. Since 1998, we have provided millions of plants to landscapers and contractors throughout the mid-Atlantic region and beyond. We have had the privilege of providing high-quality plants for everything from the Hurricane Sandy beach restoration to the 9/11 memorial in honor of Flight 93. We carry an inventory of over 500,000 native trees, native shrubs, and herbaceous native plants.

Our Nursery

Our nursery, conveniently located in Middle River, Maryland, is open year‑round to serve your native plant needs. We continuously expand and update our inventory to meet customer demand, maintaining a ready reserve of plants for timely shipment and distribution as needs arise. Production continues throughout the year, allowing us to anticipate upcoming projects and seasonal requirements. Our half‑acre heated greenhouse supports ongoing crop production, ensuring a robust and diverse inventory is always available.

For customers outside the area, we ship nationwide, with a primary focus on supplying native plants well‑suited to the Eastern United States and Midwest.

Woodstock, IL Fulfillment Center

Our Woodstock, Illinois fulfillment center is located at 14201 Washington Street, Woodstock, IL 60098 and supports order fulfillment for customers throughout the region. Orders scheduled for Illinois pickup or delivery require a two‑week lead time to allow for pulling and transporting material. Our Practices

At American Native Plants, growing and cultivating is a year-round process. Our workers are regularly stratifying and planting new seeds in response to customer orders or to start new contract grow projects for larger restoration projects. We pride ourselves on having a large and constantly growing selection of native trees, native shrubs, and herbaceous native plants.

We do not use neonics (neonicotinoids, which harm bees). We use a minimum of chemicals, usually within our greenhouses, necessary to control diseases and harmful insects. Whenever possible, we use natural controls, such as predatory insects. Native plants are part of a large ecosystem. As such, they provide food and shelter for native insects, so we do not interfere with those relationships.
